Witnesses sought after phone cabling theft attempt

Internet and telephone connectivity was down in Gislingham after would-be thieves cut some of the cable that provides these services to the village.

The incident took place after 11pm yesterday (Wednesday). The perpetrators were disturbed before they could complete the theft.

According to the Diss Express, anyone with information relating to this crime should contact PC George Laflin from Stowmarket on 101 quoting ST/14/2520 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Although the theft was interrupted, phone and internet services may be down for some time. BT’s service status website said the problem should be cleared by 15th September – implying that services could be down all weekend and into next week.
