We wish everyone who visited and supported the annual Flower Festival held in St Mary’s Church over the August bank holiday a very big THANK YOU for making it such a great success, despite the attempts of the weather to make this event a total wash out!!!
In particular we thank the flower arrangers for their wonderful, artistic displays based on the theme of the Life and Works of William Shakespeare. Many of our visitors remarked on their skills and that our Flower Festival was the best they had visited in the area. Praise indeed!
As well as the arrangements of flowers we had several fundraising activities organised over the bank holiday and run by stalwart volunteers. These included: The Kasbah, The Bottle Stall, The Plant Stall, The Grand Draw, Name the 2 Teddies and a Second Hand Book Sale in the village hall.
We are delighted that all these activities plus donations have raised a grand total of £1,347.82. A brilliant total!!!
Listed below are the winners of the Grand Draw: Chris Terry, Mrs Bloomfield, Chris Talbot, Derek Hamilton, Mrs P Kilbey, Dr O. Robinson, John Orlopp, Helen Harris, Mr Hurley, Mrs P Filbey, Mrs R A Kader.
The Name the Teddy Bears activity was won by: Carmen Pursehouse and Helen Lawrence.
As Chair, of Friends of St Mary’s I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to the Friends committee members and all the many others who helped us for all their hard work and commitment and congratulate them on achieving this marvellous result.
