At our AGM in November, after 4 years as our president, Dilys Sewell stood down and
I have taken over the job. Big shoes to fill but with the help of the Committee I shall do my best.
Gislingham WI is now into its 71st year, having celebrated our 70th birthday and Christmas at a party held in the Village Hall. 50 people attended and we had a sit-down meal, followed by great entertainment.
As the first meeting of the year will have taken place during January, when we pay our subscription for the year of £39, if you have not already joined we look forward to seeing some new faces this year when you will certainly be given a very warm welcome. We have a jam-packed programme planned and some outings which will be announced throughout the year.
Do come along and visit for a taster for £4. There is no obligation to join but you may find you like us and would like to be part of a worthwhile organisation.
Our meeting in February will be on Wednesday 18th February with a talk by
Moira Hammond, our new representative for the ACWW, Association of Country Women Worldwide. We will find out what good causes our “pennies for friendship” goes to.
Here’s to a great 2017.
