Parish council update

It has been some months since I last wrote any Parish Council notes but an outstanding result you will read about separately in this Messenger is the Local Council Award presented by SALC at our February meeting. The award was the result of much effort by all members of the Council but especially Terry Williams (our recent clerk) and a small working party with Councillors Arthur Kitson and Peter Adams.

Other issues discussed at the meeting included a new initiative on improving public transport links to and from the village, and support for the Village Hall Management Committee and their plan to adopt and relocate the BT phone box.

A date has been set for the Spring Litter Pick around the village which will take place on Sunday 23rd April. Please meet at the Village Hall at 10am. All necessary equipment will be provided and there will be refreshments available from 11am.

Finally, the Council will be awarding the Watson Bowl at the annual village meeting to be held on Wednesday 24th May. The Watson bowl is awarded to any member of the public that voluntarily enhances the quality of life in the village. If you wish to nominate anyone, please let the clerk or I know by email with a very short explanation of why they are being nominated. The Bowl will be suitably engraved and will be held for one year by the recipient.

The next Parish Council help desk will be in the Village Hall on Saturday 1st April from 10am to 12 noon.

Generally, the first point of contact for any matters to do with the Parish Council is the Parish Clerk, Mrs Kathryn Wells on or by phone on 01379 783917.

The alternative is Cllr Chris Pitt at or 01379 788795.
